I stopped by Petco to examine the aquariums and was just reminded why ferrets are among my very favorite animals of all time.

How would you like it if you were in a cage and ppl constantly walked up and tapped on the glass and recorded you running around? Come on lol

This is a video of an animal that is extremely excited and eager to interact. The ‘tapping’ was extremely gentle and brief, and, due to the open-air construction of this cage and the fact that it’s not filled with water, it was not amplified like the inside of a drum. Tapping on cages is obnoxious when it’s to get an uninterested animal to stir and pay attention to you, and this ferret is doing the equivalent of jumping up and down and screaming “PLAY WITH ME! PLAY WITH ME IN THIS SPAAAACE!” The only time I tap the cage (very lightly) is when it loses sight of me during our race, as a way to let it know where I was.
