People really acting like fans should be thankful for the gay rep in Voltron as if:
- it was good rep in the first place (if one hadn’t seen the interviews/tweets it could’ve been taken as friendship)
- giving LGBT rep one (1) season before the show ends isn’t sus
- utilizing the “bury your gays” trope and having them be broken up wasn’t a blatantly ez cop-out from having to show Shiro and Adam having any sort of affection for one another
- they hadn’t said that we would get to meet Adam (implying we’d get to know him at least a little bit) and then gave him like 3 minutes of screen time tops, and most of it was him dying
I wasn’t particularly invested in Voltron or caught up on it (and won’t be any time soon) but this whole situation is messy and disregarding the concerns of LGBT fans because “at least you got something!!” has been used countless times when fans are promised rep and get scraps/subtext/dead gays instead. It’s getting pretty stale, honey.
