keiths-stupid-mullet:

I think my favorite part about “Lance’s story” is how it talked about his insecurities. Not once did Lance blame the others for having their roles. He specifically said “I didn’t know what my role was”. There was no indication that he expected anyone to come and help him with this.

And then this:

“Once I accepted Keith as the new leader of Voltron, something amazing happened”.

HE did that. Not Keith. Not Hunk or Allura or Shiro or Pidge. Lance was the one to overcome his insecurities by growing into a better person.

Insecurities are a battle with yourself. Other people can try to help like Shiro, Keith, and Allura did, but in the end the only one who can beat them is you. Lance’s position changed and he accepted his new role as the “right-arm man”. (That’s probably where the brief bout of insecurity in s5 came from: Shiro was the leader and Lance technically was his right hand. When Shiro didn’t listen to his advice, Lance felt scared that his “role” was only in his imagination.)
