Except she isn’t! Valkyrie is confirmed as bisexual, and is meant to be Thor’s love interest in ragnarok (with the Valkyrie vs Hela scene meant to confirm her bisexuality) but when she was first introduced, a shitton of people got mad, essentially because she was black. I think this is why they ended up making their romance a lot less obvious, because ppl got mad for no reason. I think op is hinting at the thing that a lot of fandoms do where if a black female character is the love interest to a white character, they won’t ship her with her intended love interest, but instead will ignore her and ship her significant other with another white character (in this case, Thor/Bruce).
