this is what we call growth

I… really would not like to call this “growth”. “Growth” implies positive change, which comes from observation, introspection, and critical thinking. Yes, she has probably experienced growth and has changed her views, but I don’t think bullying kids over their appearances and telling them to kill themselves because they had a bad opinion about fandom until they are traumatized from it and display that they’ve changed their mind to your satisfaction should really be held up as an example of personal growth.

ship, i think you got this wrong… wasn’t she the one who is being bullied? And people tell her to kill herself. Sure, that’s not mature, that’s terrible, but HER development is still growth….

Her development is her development. I think the fact that she has grown and changed is not the point – I think that some of the comments celebrating the fact that she’s changed and can be “crossed of the list” are perhaps indirectly championing the idea that mass bullying and sexual harassment of minors is an effective and valid way to get them to change problematic beliefs…. an “ends justify the means” sort of thing.
