It’s always been so weird to me how the response to drug addicted homeless people is to just let them die outside from quitting cold turkey on the cold hard concrete while being stared at by snobby ass hats cuz “oh that’s what they get for choosing to do drugs” or what ever the fuck
depriving homeless addicts wont magically make them not addicted to drugs.
It’s a whole obsession in this gross ass western society with punishing marginalized poor people and “”teaching them a lesson””
What really fucking gets me is that everybody knows drug addiction commonly begins as a desperate relief from some sort of physical or emotional pain, that a lot of people turn to drugs when their existence is so shit they can’t see any other way to take a break from their misery. Everyone ought to be able to feel sympathy for that yet the war on drugs has RAMMED it down society’s throat that addicts are not only worthless scum, but selfishly chose to be and therefore deserve no forgiveness or help.
In pop culture, slackers are portrayed as playing guitar, but learning to play any instrument requires a lot of commitment and attention, the opposite of what a slacker stands for.
*psst* It’s the fact that capitalism doesn’t value artistic ability if it can’t turn a profit. Capitalism sees all the amateur buskers and starving artists and assumes that, since they’re barely getting by, they must not be putting in enough effort.
